Time has finally arrived for the appropriate and proper introduction for this site. First of all thanks for visiting and we hope that you will find relevant information about Botswana and especially the safaris that can be done in this abundant nature destination in Africa.

One should begin by briefly introducing the general state of the country and its political stability, as it often dictates whether people are willing to travel to a destination in far a field countries. Botswana is one of Southern Africa’s most stable and safe countries to live, visit and do extensive travelling. With a population of about 2 million people, the problems that  are usually associated with third world countries are not as magnified here as for example in South Africa, Tanzania and not to mention Zimbabwe. Botswana is safe for tourists to visit! The abundant diamond and uranium natural resources give the democratically elected government the tools to keep Botswana inhabitants above certain poverty levels. Please do not think that there are no poverty, of course there is, however people in the main do not seem to be desperate, which in turn has resulted in lower crime levels.

Now that the political and socio-economical mini intro is done and dusted, I would like to introduce the REAL Botswana and the real reason why people should visit the country.

Untamed, natural, abundant, breathtaking, exiting, never to be forgotten and so on and on…. These are but a few descriptions of the Wildlife and nature tourism attributes in Botswana National parks such as, Moremi on the Okavango Delta, Chobe in the northern Botswana, Central Kalahari, which is one of the largest if not the largest conservation game reserve of its kind in the world, and many more that will be discussed here at Safaris in Botswana site. It would be wrong to say that places such as Kenya and Tanzania as indeed South African and Namibia would not have as great game reserve because they do, however the way that you can experience the wild nature in Botswana is quite unique. This is due to fairly strict admission policies, lodge numbers and campsite availability. What this results in is the fact that often whilst on game drives you and your fellow passengers can be the only ones experiencing an ‘original episode’ of mundane wildlife, such as witnessing wild dog hunting party, Lions feasting on their prey, Leopard hunting or even Lions mating. These are the unique things that we as tourists want to see and experience and how this is provided on Botswana game drives is what makes the difference. Quite often you may be the only game drive vehicle witnessing something amazing, although totally natural and logical behaviour in the normal wildlife order of things, however witnessing a Leopard hunting guinea fowls with 5 other people and no other cars competing for improved view point, makes this experience ‘organic’. That is why Botswana has so much to offer.

The natural movement of animals is hardly restricted as the game reserves do not have large fence sections, apart from fences that separate the domestic animals from the wild, and this is solely for disease control. Theoretically you may find and Elephant, for example, walking from the borders of Namibia in the north, all the way down to southern Moremi. This is a vast distance and thus has created a feel of natural state, as opposed designated ‘zoo’ like game reserve. However this naturally means that the concentration of animals is less that in smaller game reserves. We are not trying to imply again that Botswana parks are better than others, as there are some many fantastic places in Africa and indeed the world, but what Botswana has in terms of its parks infrastructure and conservation effort is quite unique.

In the very near future we aim to touch many many subjects concerning Botswana Safaris and travel to, in and from there. The site and content is under constant construction so if you do not find what you are looking for now, then please bookmark us and visit again at a later date and you should have more chance to find answers to your questions.

Thanks for reading and welcome again to Safaris in Botswana.
